Barbara Voigt sitzt im Rollstuhl – Männer nehmen sie gar nicht wahr, sagt sie. In der Sexualbegleitung findet sie einen Raum für Nähe und sexuelle Selbstbestimmung. Doch die Treffen muss sie verheimlichen, in ihrem Umfeld ist das Thema tabu.
Sexualbegleitung kostet Geld – das macht körperliche Nähe zu einem Privileg, das für viele unerreichbar bleibt.
Für die taz durfte ich die Geschichte von Barbara und ihrem Sexualbegleiter Thomas als Autor und Fotograf erzählen. Sexualbegleitung ist ein sensibles Thema, das viiele Menschen mit Behinderung in Anspruch nehmen, über das zugleich kaum öffentlich gesprochen wird.
Die Reportage fragt, wie sexuelle Selbstbestimmung für Menschen mit Behinderung gelingen kann und warum sich kein Bundesministerium dafür zuständig sieht.
Barbara Voigt uses a wheelchair – men hardly notice her, she says. Through sexual support, she finds a space for intimacy and sexual self-determination. However, she has to keep the meetings secret: in her environment, the topic is taboo. Sexual support costs money – making physical closeness a privilege that remains out of reach for many.
For taz, I had the opportunity to tell the story of Barbara and her sexual assistant Thomas as both author and photographer. Sexual support is a sensitive issue that many people with disabilities use, yet it is rarely discussed publicly. The report asks how sexual self-determination can be achieved for people with disabilities – and why no federal ministry considers itself responsible for it.
